Pruning Services

Clearance & Liability Pruning: Limbs that down-fork, approach, or rub your house or roof are best removed to gain 6 – 8 feet of clearance from the structures. Home Insurance Policies often require this. In addition, we remove major deadwood (limbs 2” or larger) where they overhang homes, structures, and/or busy vehicular or pedestrian traffic areas.

Vista Pruning: You bought your home for the view, but over the years, the trees have begun to eclipse your view. By carefully thinning and removing select branches, we’ll maintain the health of your trees and restore your beautiful vistas.

Palm Tree Pruning: Palm trees are best pruned annually, in July or August, shortly after seed pods appear. We remove and dispose of dead fronds, seed pods, and loose boots, keeping your palm trees in great shape.

Maintenance Pruning: We strongly advise periodic crown cleaning and thinning for mature landscape trees every two to three years. In the Low Country, where hurricanes and high winds are commonplace, thinning out the canopies of your trees as directed by your arborist can reduce sail, prolong the life of your valuable trees – and save you expensive property damage.

Tree Removal

Trees grow larger and survive longer than any other living thing on earth. They can take hundreds or even thousands of years to grow yet in a short period of time can be weakened or destroyed by pests, disease, drought and storms.

Stump Grinding

Once a tree is down and removed from the property, only the stump remains. Stump grinding is an additional service that we provide with a portable machine that can access most backyards

Storm Damage

When hurricanes, ice storms and high winds throw trees on roofs, homes, vehicles and across roads and driveways, Winthrop Tree Service is the leader in disaster relief, providing prompt attention and the most experience in emergency situations.

Liquid Services

Deep Root Fertilization & Bio-Stimulants: The optimal times to fertilize trees are in the spring and the fall, just as the weather begins to turn. We inject liquid fertilizer directly into the root systems of trees and shrubs, penetrating beneath the drip line of the plant in multiple places. Tree fertilization maintains and improves the overall health of your plants by providing macro- and micro-nutrients required for healthy growth and metabolic functions. This not only improves the appearance of your trees, but also makes them more resilient to stress, diseases, and pests.

Pesticides & Herbicides: There are many pests and invasive plant species which can be harmful to trees. It is important to treat these before they cause significant harm to your trees. At Winthrop Tree Service, we carefully and conservatively apply pesticides and herbicides, if needed, to protect your trees from rapid decline.

Firewood

While Winthrop Tree Service is not in the business of firewood for sale, we are pleased to cut, split, and stack wood from any trees we remove on your property. Or, if you wish to have split and seasoned hardwood delivered to your home, we can assist you in arranging it. Keep an eye out for our periodic firewood giveaway events, too!

Consultations

Whether it’s a tree survey in advance of a purchase or construction, or a letter to assess the health and safety of a tree prior to obtaining a tree removal permit, often it may warrant consulting an expert opinion. We will send a Board-Certified Master Arborist to assess your trees, advise next steps, and otherwise attend to your tree consultation needs.

Cabling and Bracing

Cabling and bracing can add additional support to certain structurally weak trees and leaders. These mechanical support systems can prevent damage, such as major trunk and branch failure. If we determine that your trees can benefit from cabling and bracing, we can often extend their lifetime – and the time you have to enjoy them.

“I had a very good experience with them…. “

“…The owner was very pleasant, he stopped by our house, evaluated all the trees that we have. Gave us the best price (twice less that other tree companies wanted). Our appointment was flexible, but the work got done in the reasonable amount of time. They work fast, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves.”

– Masha Yaitska

“Shout out to Winthrop Tree Service!… “

“…Guencho, Noeh (and crew) and Ivan all delivered on their work taking down this dead Laurel. It was less than a foot from an old brick key hole fence and we had no damage to the fence. Couldn’t believe how clean they left the space. Great job!”

-Elizabeth Mann

“Extremely easy to work with…”

“…very fair price and the crew was friendly, safe and professional. They cleaned up all their debris before they left. Will for sure use them again!”

“KUDOS to Winthrop Tree Service…”

“…After calling many many tree service companies Winthrop came through in SO many ways. 2 huge trees fell on our house during Hurricane Matthew. Winthrop came out and took them out on Tuesday after the hurricane. They had a crane and had the tree over and off our roof making it safe for us to return home. Luckily no holes were in the roof! The Winthrop crew was AWESOME!!! They charged considerably less than other estimates we’d gotten. We had been told by others it may be days and possibly weeks before they could get to us. Winthrop is the BEST! THANK YOU!! They will forever be #1 on my list!!!”
